Mixed Media
2009
In this work I am exploring a sculptural and painted element.
The process of laying up hot wax takes hours and even days. Wax is an interesting medium. The piece is different from encaustic in that you see only the shape of the wax and not the color. The paint completely envelops into a skin. The wax is left for textural purposes only. There is depth on a couple of levels. One is the flake within the paint itself. The other being the wax which the paint is wrapped around.
